VIII. THE DIGITAL LIBRARY
Digital quality
A well equipped school already has an electronic
print-shop for printing and publishing any text on paper.
With special attention to graphic and artistic design
professional quality work in all disciplines can be
achieved. This does not mean competing with industrial
production, just creating a suitable environment for
personalized and hand-crafted books. However, at the same
time such books, magazines or school papers could be
distributed over the school computer network or by Internet,
which will require "digital quality" and a change in
standard paradigms. When hypertext is prepared, when a home
page or an electronic header is designed for the digital
network, in fact a two-dimensional page is not being
"written" it is "sculpted" in a virtual space of innumerable
dimensions. We are facing profound changes in intellectual
processes themselves.
